The University of Immaculate Conception’s (UIC) College of Nursing made a positive impact on the young learners of Sto. Niño Elementary School in Zonta Village through a collaborative outreach program for its 150 adopted scholars on June 21, 2025.

The program was spearheaded by the Nursing Student Government (NSG), in coordination with the Community Development Service (CDS), led by Dr. Corazon Umblero. The NSG had diligently collected school supplies, which were then distributed to the children, ensuring they had the tools they needed as they started on a new school year.

Beyond material support, the outreach program featured a vital educational component. The NSG delivered a brief but crucial lecture on hand hygiene and oral hygiene. This fundamental knowledge was essential for the children’s well-being and aligned with the responsibility of future nurses to be educators within their community. It was a valuable opportunity for student nurses to apply their skills in health education and empower the younger generation with practices that promote good health and prevent infection.
