We, the Medical Technology / Medical Laboratory Science Program. envision ourselves to shape the very core of diagnosis and management of illness used in today’s highly specialized health care industry.

Mission

We, the members of the Medical Technology / Medical Laboratory Science Program, in a Christian. Marian and Ignatian spirit, aim to produce future medical technologists who:

possess knowledge, technical skills and right attitudes in scientific laboratory investigation necessary in the diagnosis and treatment of disease

• conduct clinical research for the promotion and delivery of good health
• undertake projects for the advancement of medically-related researches
• observe ethical standards in the practice of the profession
• are agents of community development through health services

Goal

Guided by our vision and mission, we commit ourselves for the improvement of the community health care services through the practice of professional and ethical responsibilities.

Historical Sketch

The University of the Immaculate Conception, formerly known as Immaculate Conception College, first offered Medical Technology in June of 1961. The Medical Technology Program was given government recognition umber 264 as a four-year Technical Technology course leading to the degree of Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology effective July 3, 1961. This was granted by the Department of Education as per approval of the then Secretary of Health Carlos P. Romulo. The Medical Technology Program of ICC was able to produce their first batch of graduates in March of 1965. As of March 2013, the University has produced a total of 47 batches of Medical Technology graduates.

The Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology of the University of the Immaculate Conception has already produced 47 batches of Medical Technology graduates equipped with theory and technical expertise to serve the public.

In the Academic year 2005-2006, the Medical Technology Program has been changed to Medical Laboratory Science. The curriculum has been revised by the Commission on Higher Education by adding important subjects are expanded to improve the academic performance of the students enrolled in the MLS program and to set a standard that is attuned with global market.
