The University of the Immaculate Conception (UIC) served as a crucial hub for the 1st HEI Summit on Anti-Illegal Drugs Strategy in Davao City, held on March 19-20, 2025, at the UIC Auditorium on the Bajada Campus.

The summit, themed “Stakeholders’ Convergence Towards a Holistic Social Reintegration,” brought together key stakeholders from across the region to discuss and enhance anti-illegal drug strategies within higher education institutions (HEIs). UIC not only provided the venue but also played a prominent part in the discussions.

UIC President, S. Ma. Marissa R. Viri, RVM, along with Maricar Casquejo, Regional Director of the Commission on Higher Education Region XI, highlighted the vital role of HEIs in fostering drug-free communities. The event also featured Hon. Rowena M. Apao-Adlawan, Executive Judge of the RTC-Davao City and Convenor of the Davao City Justice Zone, who outlined the initiative’s rationale. Day 2 of the summit further solidified these commitments, demonstrating a robust convergence of education, governance, and law enforcement.
