UICian hailed as 2015 Most Outstanding Nutritionist-Dietitian

1The Nutritionist-Dietitians’ Association of the Philippines (NDAP), the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) accredited professional organization (APO) for Nutritionist- Dietitians awarded Mrs. Guillerma B. Apigo as the 2015 Most Outstanding Nutritionist-Dietitian. Guillie as her friends and colleagues call her, is a BS in Food and Nutrition (BSFN) graduate of the University of the Immaculate Conception (UIC) in 1980. She is part of the pioneering batch of BSFN (now known as BS in Nutrition and Dietetics or BSND) in the university. She passed the Sub-professional Civil Service Eligibility Examination in 1979.

In 1981, she passed the NItritionist-Dietitians Licensure Examination (NDLE). On the same year, she worked as canteen supervisor of Davao Doctors Hospital in 1987. Then, she became a nutrition instructor at UIC for a semester. She was also a consulting dietitian at Polymedic Hospital in Panabo from 2007 to 2010. At present, she is the Chief Dietitian of Southern Philippines Medical Center. Her service-oriented nature made her involve and even lead a number of organizations. She became the National President of the Philippine Lay Camillian Family (LCF) in 2014 where she led in activities like visitation of the sick, blood letting, health-awareness education, psycho-social processes, relief and medical mission and spiritual activities like novenas and chapel activities. 2This also gave her the opportunity to join the 3rd World LCF General Assembly in Mottinello, Italy. Indeed, she is an indefatigable leader. She became the the President of NDAP Davao Chapter in 2005-2007 and 2012-2014. This led her to hold a higher position being the NDAP National Vice President for Mindanao in 2010. She is also a present member of the board of directors of the Department of Health (DOH) League of RNDs. Guillie is also the Chairperson of Davao Medical Center Employees Cooperative since 2009. Her quest for knowledge and wisdom to improve made her finish 2 graduate degrees, MA in Public Administration and Master in Business Administration major in Hotel and Restaurant Management in Southwestern University, Cebu City. With all those, achievements, she remained unassuming and generous. She is a blissful wife and a happy mother of 4. The graduates of 2015 had a chance to listen to her inspirational words during the UIC Parents’ Recognition last March 21, 2015 at UIC Gymnasium, Bajada Campus. Truly, Mrs. Apigo is just among the UICians living the Ignacian Marian Core Values: Faith, Excellence and Service.
